LG G6 update to Android 8.0 Oreo begins on April 30

While LG is trying to drum up attention for the upcoming G7 ThinQ, it isn’t forgetting about the upcoming flagship’s predecessor.

Today the Life’s Good crew announced that it will begin updating the G6 to Android 8.0 Oreo beginning on Monday, April 30. The new update will make landfall in South Korea first, and owners there will have a couple of options to upgrade their smartphone. They can download and install the over the air (OTA) update or they can plug their phone into their computer and use LG Bridge to update directly.

The standard Android Oreo features will be added to G6, including picture-in-picture support. LG also confirmed that the artificial intelligence features tied to the camera that were introduced with the LG V30S ThinQ will be available on the G6 once the new software is installed.

Unfortunately, while LG is ready to launch the update in South Korea, the company isn’t going on the record as to when the Android 8.0 Oreo software will arrive on the G6 in other countries.

Do you own an LG G6? If so, what do you think of the handset, and are you looking forward to your Android Oreo update?
