Alcatel announces five new phones at MWC 2018, including first Android Oreo (Go edition) device

Alcatel is getting MWC 2018 started early with its announcements of a bevy of new Android smartphones.

The Alcatel 5 series, Alcatel 3 series, and Alcatel 1 series of phones are now official. Alcatel touts that all of these devices feature tall 18:9 displays, a trendy feature in the smartphone world, and they’ve all got Face Key face unlock technology, too.

The top-end device of this bunch is the Alcatel 5, which features a 5.7-inch 1440×720 display, octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor, 2/3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. There’s a dual front camera setup on here that includes a 13MP sensor with f/2 aperture and 5MP wide angle camera, as well as a 12MP reader camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
Rounding out the Alcatel 5′s feature set is a 3,000mAh battery, fingerprint reader, and Android Nougat.
