Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2 now official with 8-inch display

Samsung today officially unveiled a brand new tablet which will launch before the end of the month.

The Galaxy Tab Active2 sports an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800. It’s got a rugged design and is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance. Under the hood the Galaxy Tab Active2 boasts an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7870 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. There is a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 256GB for expandable storage.

Also included is an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a USB Type-C port on the bottom for charging, and a battery that measures in at 4450mAh and is user replaceable, too. Samsung included a fingerprint reader on the Galaxy Tab Active2 as well as Android 7.1 Nougat. It also features Samsung’s Knox 2.8 security software suite.

Samsung is packing an S Pen in with the Galaxy Tab Active2 which supports Air Command for quick-launch features, a 4096 pressure level, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

The Galaxy Tab Active2 will launch in October “in select markets.” Exactly which markets those are hasn’t been divulged, nor has the tablet’s price.
