Essential drops the price of the Essential Phone to $499

If you missed the limited time promotion from Best Buy that saw a $100 discount applied to the Essential Phone, the company behind the smartphone has a new deal worth checking out.

Essential has announced that it’s now offering the Essential Phone for $499. That’s a $200 discount off of its launch price.

To get the Essential Phone at its new price point, you’ll need to get the smartphone from Essential.com directly; it doesn’t look like the price drop will be available from Sprint or Best Buy (it’s still listed at $699 from both).

For the early adopters out there, Essential is offering a $200 coupon code that can be used on Essential.com for either a new Essential Phone or the 360 Camera (which is priced at $199). To be eligible for this friends and family code, you’ll need to have purchased your Essential Phone before today, October 22.

You will also need to go through this website and fill out the online form. That means you’ll need to input your email address as well as input your Essential Phone’s serial number and IMEI number so Essential can verify the device’s eligibility.

So, who’s going to buy an Essential Phone at the new $499 price point?
