T-Mobile targets seniors with new $60 unlimited plan

T-Mobile is kicking the week off with the announcement of a new rate plan.

T-Mobile One Unlimited 55+ will be available starting Wednesday, August 9th. The plan will only be available to customers age 55 and up, and it’ll include two lines of unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data for $60 per month. That price includes $50 for one line, $10 for the second, and a $5 per line Autopay discount.

The Unlimited 55+ plan includes many of the same perks as the standard T-Mobile One plan. Customers on the Unlimited 55+ plan can get Simple Global unlimited text and 128Kbps data roaming and flat-fate calling in 140 countries, Mobile Without Borders for using their plan in Mexico and Canada, unlimited texting and 1 free hour of inflight Gogo Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, and access to T-Mobile Tuesdays gifts and prizes. They can also use Digits to access their number on other devices or use multiple phone numbers on one phone.

There is some fine print to be aware of with T-Mobile’s new plan. Mobile hotspot is capped at 3G speeds, and video streaming is capped at 480p. There’s also a maximum of two voice lines allowed per Unlimited 55+ plan.

If they’d like, Unlimited 55+ customers can sign up for T-Mobile’s One Plus and One Plus International add-ons. For $10 per line per month, One Plus offers unlimited HD video streaming and 10GB of 4G LTE mobile hotspot usage. Meanwhile, One Plus International adds unlimited HD video streaming, unlimited 4G LTE mobile hotspot, and international calling.

The T-Mobile One Unlimited 55+ plan is $40 cheaper per month than the standard two-line T-Mobile One plan, so this is a pretty great deal for consumers that qualify. It’ll be available on August 9th in T-Mobile stores, online, and by calling customer support.
