Samsung Might Be Working on a Clamshell with Flagship-Level Specs

The Samsung Galaxy S8 comes packing a Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM, but soon you might be able to pick up a phone with more RAM from Samsung.

No, we’re not talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note8 which according to the rumour mill should come packing 6GB of RAM. According to a tipster from China, Samsung is gearing up to release a clamshell phone (model number W2018) that will arrive with a Snapdragon 835, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Interestingly, the same phone popped in China’s TENAA regulatory agency a while ago, but revealed a completely different story. According to the older listing, the clamshell should make a debut with a Snapdragon 821 on board and only 4GB of RAM. Other specs included a 4.2-inch 1080p display, 12MP/5MP camera combo, 64GB of internal storage and a 2,300 mAh battery.

The TENAA listing sounds more plausible, but we can’t deny that it would be interesting to see Samsung launch such a powerful clamshell. The phone will most likely be sold on the Asian continent with a pretty hefty price tag. According to what we’re hearing, the phone could sell for an exorbitant $2,500 CAD.

In the unlikely event the clamshell land in Canada, would you pay such a price for one?
