OnePlus 5 jelly scrolling effect may be caused by inverted display

If you haven’t heard, some OnePlus 5 owners are reported a “jelly scrolling” effect. This is when the screen shifts unevenly when scrolling, and it looks pretty bad. Sadly, OnePlus called it “natural” and not a defect.

The reason for this effect may be simple. The display panel in the OnePlus 5 is inverted compared to the OnePlus 3T. This is by design, as the display controller is at the bottom of the device. Packaging a device is tough, so an upside down display makes sense design-wise.

However, some displays react strangely to being upside down. Rotate other displays 180 degrees and the jelly effect may appear there too, though it depends on the display. This may be due to the way the display refreshes upside down.

While it isn’t confirmed that the upside down panel is the cause of the jelly effect, and we don’t know why some people don’t see the effect, it’s a possibility. Hit the source link for more detailed info!
