LG Q8 now official with 5.2-inch display and a secondary screen

Earlier this month, LG officially introduced the first member of its fledgling Q series, the Q6, and now the company is ready to launch another member of the family.

Everyone, welcome the LG Q8. This handset looks strikingly similar to the V20 from last year, including a secondary display that sits above the primary 5.2-inch display (which has a resolution of 2560×1440) and has a resolution of 160×1040. That secondary screen can show recent apps, shortcuts to settings, and more.

There are other features that make the jump from the V20, too, including high-quality audio with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC and HD audio recording. The LG Q8 boasts a pair of cameras on the back, too, one of which is a 13-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization while the other is an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens. There’s a 5-megapixel camera on the other side.

On the back of the LG Q8 there’s a fingerprint reader, and inside there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, and a 3000mAh battery. It’s running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and has a USB Type-C port on its bottom. Finally, the LG Q8 is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance.

This is actually a nice mix of high-end specs and mid-range features, so it’s a bit of a shame that it might not ever make it out of Italy.

Would you make the Q8 your next daily driver if you could?
