LG officially has itself a new family of devices.
The LG Q6 is now official, and a more affordable LG G6. LG explains that its new Q series “offers many of LG’s most sought-out premium features at a competitive price.”
The premium feature that the LG Q6 has is the FullVision-style display found on the LG G6. That means that the Q6 has a tall 18:9 display with minimal bezels. The LG Q6’s display isn’t quite as high-res as the G6’s, though, with the former coming in at 2160×1080 and the latter being 2880×1440.
Other features of the LG Q6 include either a Snapdragon 435 processor, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, FM radio, face recognition, and a 3,000mAh battery. All those features are packed into a body with a frame that’s made of 7000 series aluminum, which LG says is “ultra-strong.”
LG plans to offer three versions of the LG Q6. The top-end LG Q6+ will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage, while the LG Q6 will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and the LG Q6α will pack 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
The LG Q6 will begin rolling out in markets in Asia in August, followed by releases in Europe, Latin America, and North America. There’s no word yet on how much the Q6 will cost, but LG says that its Q series devices will be priced competitively, so don’t expect anything too crazy. While the Q6 is lacking the dual rear cameras and higher-end specs of its G6 sibling, it does have the tall display that’s popular now and some other respectable features, so it could be worth a look for someone that’s in the market for a more affordable Android smartphone.
