Amazon and Dish considering partnership in wireless business

TV companies entering the wireless network business is nothing new. AT&T and Verizon are both in the game, offering wireless service alongside the TV business. Dish may be next, though the company would need a partner to pull it off.

Dish has attempted to partner with networks before without success, but the company is now in talks with Amazon to build a new network. Though things are early and the two companies are taking talks slow, the idea makes sense. Amazon already offers many services and sells smartphones, so a phone plan with Amazon Prime included isn’t so crazy.

The focus would be on the “Internet of Things,” pushing for all devices to be connected. With Amazon’s foray into smart tech, it starts to make even more sense.

We’ll have to wait to see how it pans out, but it’s an interesting thought. Can Amazon and Dish make a wireless network compelling enough to tempt people to leave the big networks? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
