Samsung rolling out Bixby Voice to Galaxy S8 early access enrollees

It hasn’t even been a week since Samsung announced an early access program in the United States for Galaxy S8 (and Galaxy S8+) owners to try out Bixby Voice ahead of its public rollout.

Now Samsung is moving forward with the program, as Galaxy S8 owners that enrolled in the program are being notified that the feature is rolling out to them. There isn’t anything too surprising here, at least not yet, as users are able to perform actions, like opening the camera app and taking a selfie, just by Bixby to do so.

One other worthwhile element is the Labs section, which will let Bixby Voice work with third-party apps like Facebook, Instagram, Uber, and others. Users can do things like ask Bixby to open the Facebook app and show them their notifications, for instance.

It’s called an early access program, but this is definitely still a beta test, and Bixby Voice is pre-release software. As such, while most of the feature should work, there might be performance hiccups or other bugs that crop up with normal usage. That’s just part of the fun of using software ahead of its public launch.

Are you part of the early access program?
