Google simplifies cooking with step-by-step recipes on Google Home

Google Home has proven to be a capable assistant, but the search giant is intent on constantly improving it. A key part of that improvement is utilizing relationships and partnerships to add new, unique functions. Partnerships have certainly enabled the latest feature on the Google Home, which is the ability to give step-by-step instructions for recipes.

To bring recipes to life, Google partnered with Bon Appetit, The New York Times, Food Network, and more. Users can go to the Google Assistant or Google Search app and find a recipe. Upon selection, users can select the “Send to Google Home” button, which will save it to the device, regardless of whether you’re at home or not. Once ready to begin, users can say, “Ok Google, start cooking,” or “Ok Google, start recipe.”

Users can easily ask Google to repeat steps or jump to different steps in the recipe. Additionally, the other functions of Google Home won’t be hindered while cooking. Users can still play music, get the weather, ask for conversions, and more, while keeping the recipe going in the background.

The feature will roll out to users over the coming week, so it may be a few days before it hits your Google Home. Once you receive it, you can even have the Google Home find recipes for you by saying,”Ok Google, let’s cook _______.” When you’ve given the feature a try, report back and let us know how it is!
