ZTE Quartz smartwatch surfaces in leaked photos

Android Wear has struggled with mass adoption, but manufacturers aren’t giving up hope just yet. Android Wear 2.0 recently launched and while LG was first to utilize the new software, ZTE looks to be jumping in on the smartwatch game. A new leak from Android Police provides details and photos of the unreleased ZTE Quartz smartwatch.

The Quartz features a metal body with small tick marks surrounding the watch face. On the side is a single button and, though not pictured, the bottom of the watch reportedly does not house a heart rate sensor, marking a departure from many other Android Wear smartwatches. The device reportedly uses a fairly standard four-pin charging method.ZTE Quartz (2)

Internally, the Quartz is said to contain 3G network support, but LTE is a no-go. Additionally, the Quartz lacks NFC support. All in all, ZTE looks to be aiming for a budget-conscious crowd with the Quartz. While 3G support allows the Quarts to access the Internet on its own, it’s disappointing that ZTE didn’t opt to provide support for LTE, which is significantly faster and far more common.

Though pricing and launch details are unknown, Android Police expects an official launch in the near future based on current development status.
