Days after TAG Heuer unveiled its latest smartwatch, another luxury Android Wear device has made its debut.
The Montblanc Summit is now official. It’s an Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch with a fully-round 1.39-inch 400×400 AMOLED display that’s also got curved sapphire glass. The 46mm case is 12.5mm thick and is available in steel and titanium finishes. It’s also IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
Powering the Summit is a combination of a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 300mAh battery that Montblanc says will provide “all-day battery life”. Also included is 4GB of storage, a microphone, an ambient light sensor, a barometer, Wi-Fi, and a heart rate sensor.
It’s also worth noting a few features that are missing from the Summit. Montblanc opted to omit GPS and LTE from the Summit, meaning no detailed run tracking or untether smartwatch use, and there’s no NFC for Android Pay here.
The Montblanc Summit will launch on May 15 at a starting price of $890. There are bi-color steel, black steel, and stainless steel case options, as well as rubber, calfskin, and alligator skin straps.
Montblanc’s new Android Wear smartwatch has a nice, analog watch-style design, and it’s good that there are multiple case and strap options. It is kind of a bummer that features like NFC and GPS are missing, though, especially at the prices that the Summit is going for. If you intend to just use your smartwatch to do things like get the time and read notifications, though, the lack of those features may not bother you.
