LG officially announced the G6, its newest flagship yesterday, but at the time, it didn’t confirm a launch date or pricing. LG’s mobile chief, Cho Juno, has now confirmed a few key points.
The first is that the G6 will launch in South Korea on March 10. That lines up with a previous rumor, so it’s possible that the flagship handset will launch in the United States in early April. However, Juno did not confirm any launch news for the U.S. market just yet.
Additionally, Juno did mention that the Korean pricing for the G6 could be set around 899,800 won, which is about $795 USD. Nothing official just yet, but if the G6 is indeed priced there, it wouldn’t be too surprising.
Juno also mentioned LG Pay, the company’s efforts in the mobile payment space. While LG Pay was announced awhile ago, LG gone quiet on that front ever since. Juno says the company plans to launch LG Pay in June of this year, but didn’t go into any details on how that might work, where the service will be available at launch, or what type of support it will have out of the gate.
Finally, logos. According to Juno, the consumers in the United States actually like seeing the logo on the front, so that’s partly why the company decided to stick it just below the display, on that small bezel. However, he also noted that it’s “just a matter of time” before the company removes it altogether on the front, as screens continue to grow in size (and, presumably, bezels continue to shrink).
