A few days ago we told you that Samsung is looking to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge to Android 7.1.1 directly, thus skipping over Android 7.0.
Well while we wait for the new build to start rolling out, here’s an interesting tidbit you might want to take note of. Remember the Galaxy Note7’s Secure Folder option? It was pretty neat, as it allowed users to quickly and safely tuck away personal files such as images, videos and PDFs in a folder.
To access the Secure Folder information, you would have needed to authenticate yourself via the Galaxy Note7’s fingerprint or iris scanner.
Anyway, now it seems that Samsung is considering porting this useful feature to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. A user requested the option in the Galaxy Beta program and Samsung replied it is considering offering the feat as a downloadable option for devices on Android Nougat.
Given that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are first in line to get Nougat, the Secure Folder will be available for them initially. As other Samsung devices start to get Nougat, Secure Folder might work on them too.
The feature will be available for download via the Galaxy App store.
