Good news for Nokia fans who are just dying to see a new smartphone from the company. It appears the Finish phone maker that got absorbed by Microsoft, just confirmed its next-gen handsets are coming our way in 2017.

The info popped up in a slide during Nokia’s Capital Markets Day 2016 – an event hosted by the company for investors. As you can see, one of the slides says that 2017 will be year of “Nokia brand’s return to smartphones.”

In case you don’t remember not Nokia will be manufacturing the phones per-se, but Finnish company HMD Global in collaboration with Foxconn.

Not so long ago, a few images showcasing Nokia’s purported Android 7.0 Nougat smartphones appeared online. The images reveal the handsets will take advantage of a premium metallic design.

Like it’s customary today, Nokia is apparently preparing to launch two smartphones, one with 5.2-inch display and the other with a larger 5.5-inch screen just like the Google Pixel XL.

The phones are said to come with a Snapdragon 820 which is a bit strange given that the Snapdragon 835 has been announced and is expected to make into devices in 2017.

The phones might also benefit from the presence of an update version of the Z Launcher and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button.
