Huawei unveiled the powerful Mate 9 flagship not so long ago, but if you don’t require all that power, the company is now offering an alternative.

Enter the lower specced, Mate 9 Lite comes with a 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels). On the inside lies a Kirin 655 chipset clocked at 2.1GHz working hand in hand with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

If you feel like you need more in terms of storage and computing power, Huawei also offers the 4GB of RAM plus 64GB of internal storage variant.

Interestingly enough, the Mate 9 retains the dual-camera setup (no Leica sensor however) which features a 12MP+2MP camera combination. As for selfies there’s an 8MP snapper living up in front.

The handset takes advantage of a decent 3,400 mAh battery and has a fingerprint sensor nestled on the back below the cameras.

Sadly, unlike the fully fledged Mate 9, the Mate 9 Lite does not come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which is pretty sad.

The phone will be sold in three color versions including Gold, Gray and Silver. Pricing and availability haven’t been revealed yet, but it’s pretty sensible to assume the phones will go live in China first.
