In their continued efforts to bolster the quality of their network, Vodafone has announced it has completed the refarming of its 850MHz spectrum throughout Queensland.
The low-band 850MHz spectrum improves overall quality whilst indoors, as the signal travels through buildings easier than higher frequencies, enhancing coverage in turn.
Complementing the carrier’s 1800MHz 4G spectrum, this news marks the activation of 235 sites across Queensland’s metro and rural areas, with a 4G first for cities and towns including: Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Townsville and Airlie Beach.
These new developments mean Vodafone’s 4G network has 96 percent of Australia’s metropolitan population covered, and the telco has indicated they’re not slowing down any time soon as far as network upgrades go.
