Xiaomi just introduced the Mi 4 at a launch event in Beijing, and it’s a looker.
We don’t have the full details for now, but those that we do have are pretty interesting. Starting off with the build, just like earlier reports suggested, the Xiaomi Mi 4 features a stainless steel frame, made with “unbelievable craftsmanship & polish” in the words of Xiaomi’s head of international expansion, Hugo Barra. The chamfered edges of the steel frame give the Mi 4 a very sleek appearance, even if the back cover is actually plastic.
The back cover is removable and Xiaomi will offer a variety of options for the material, including several types of wood, bamboo, leather, and fabric. It’s a trend that Motorola pioneered and OnePlus adopted for the One, which just received its bamboo cover option today.
Moving on to specs, you get a 5-inch Full HD LCD display, a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and a choice of 16GB or 64GB of storage. There’s a 13MP f/1.8 camera on the back, while the front sensor is a whopping 8MP, with an f/1.8 lens with 80-degree field of view. The Mi 4 will come with a great 3,080 mAh battery with support for quick charging.
We’re still waiting for details on the Xiaomi Mi 4’s price and availability, and we’ll update this post as soon as we learn them.
