Waiting for the Nexus 8? So are we. But the next tablet from Google could actually be called the Nexus 9. The alleged device has leaked, a tablet with an 8.9-inch display that has a 2048×1440 resolution. The aspect ratio for such would be 4:3. It is believed to be manufactured by HTC and therefore an aluminum zero-gap construction would be obvious. The leak does claim that stereo front-facing speakers will be present, but the device in the image does not appear to have them. This could merely be a placeholder image.

The specifications of this device, going by Volantis and Flounder right now, is where things get very interesting. The processor inside is apparently the Tegra K1, a 64-bit chip that is codenamed Logan. Along with this is 2GB of RAM. And the device’s internal storage options are 16GB of 32GB. On the front is a 3MP camera but that back one is 8MP with optical image stabilization.

For specifications that are this good, Google likely will not be going light with pricing as they have done with other Nexus devices. Android Police, who obtained all of this information, points out that the 16GB version would retail for $399 and 32GB for $499. A variant with an LTE connection would cost anywhere around $600. These are preliminary prices, though. The same source claims that Volantis will have many more accessories compared to previous Nexus devices. One of which is a keyboard case.

Volantis is not expected to arrive at Google I/O on Wednesday. Instead, a release this fall or near the end of 2014 is likely.
