Samsung is reportedly planning on releasing a smartwatch that works as a stand-alone in the next few months. The watch will be able to take and make calls without being connected to any other mobile device, which most smartwatches currently aren’t able to do.
The device is also expected to be able to take photos, send emails, and come with GPS and a heart monitor. Samsung is reportedly in talks with major mobile service providers in the U.S., South Korea, and Europe, with the hopes of releasing the device between June and July.
The device will likely also run on Tizen, which Samsung co-developed with Intel, and include a SIM card. The new device will be Samsung’s 5th wrist-worn device.
