Over the last few weeks we’ve heard a few rumors suggesting that Samsung is gearing up to release a series of premium devices using the “Pro” moniker. One these models is said to be a 12.2-inch Note Pro, the other two are reportedly the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
Despite numerous rumors and reports from the Korean media, we’ve had little concrete evidence that indicate that any of these models are actually on their way — until today. A new Samsung tablet has now surfaced in filings from the FCC, bearing the model name SM-T320.
Although the filing itself doesn’t specify the screen size, it does show that the diagonal size of the device is 9.4-inches. This alone suggests we could be looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, but the real giveaway is the model number.
The Samsung SM-T320 model number is mentioned in import information via the Indian agency Zauba, where it is described as a device with an 8.4-inch display. This still doesn’t guarantee that the SM-T320 is the Tab Pro 8.4, but it certainly looks that way.
If the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 really has passed through the FCC, odds are that its release isn’t too terribly far away. The fate of the Note Pro and the Tab Pro 10.1 remains unknown, but we wouldn’t be shocked if these devices also make their way to the FCC in the near future.
As for what sets the Pro series apart from standard Samsung tablets, we can’t say for sure. We can speculate that they might feature AMOLED displays, but there is really no evidence one way or the other.
