Samsung joins HTC, LG in rolling 4.4.2 out to Google Play edition devices

Google Play edition devices are proving time and time again to be nearly as fast at getting Android updates as Nexus devices. The initial rollout of KitKat to the HTC One GPe and Samsung Galaxy S4 GPe was surprisingly and pleasantly quick. And with Android 4.2.2 going out to Nexus devices now, all of the Google Play edition devices are starting to get it.

Joining the HTC One GPe and the LG G Pad 8.3 GPe, the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPe is now getting its rollout for the new version of Android. Aside from a slightly bigger number in the settings, this update actually fixes a network status indicator. It will now properly display HSPA and HSPA+, labeling it as H/H+ instead of 3G.

It’s great to see the manufacturers behind these Google Play edition devices put some serious effort into rolling these updates out as quickly as possible, especially considering the sales figures on these devices are most likely not that high.
