Two variants of Meizu MX4 rumored to be released in August

News from Chinese sources indicate Meizu is working on accelerating the release of the successor to the Meizu MX3 to August of this year. The Meizu MX4 will reportedly be produced in two different configurations with one of them possibly selling for as little as 2,000 yuan ($320 USD). Even at that price point, it appears Meizu still plans to produce a high-end smartphone running a 5.5-inch screen at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The other variant of the MX4, tentatively dubbed the “Pro” version, will supposedly come with an even better 2560 x 1536 resolution 5.5-inch screen producing 543ppi.

At least one of the versions of the MX4 is expected to come equipped with the Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM. The devices are also expected to ship with the Flyme 4.0 operating system. In the past we have not seen Meizu phones sold in the U.S. even though they would compare favorably against much of the market. However, Meizu has indicated they plan to enter the U.S. market this year, so there is a chance the MX4 could end up in U.S. buyers’ hands.

Chinese site 163.com also says Meizu plans to have a total of five new models released during the latter half of the year.
