With all of the wireless carriers battling for subscribers, many people may be tempted to give a new carrier a try. This could be for a variety of reasons, but probably anyone making a switch would like to know they will not regret a change due to poorer service compared to their current provider. Developer tawkon hopes to help with this situation with the release of the Glove app to help users find “a network that fits.” tawkon claims three out of four people could be getting better service than what they currently have.

Once installed on a smartphone, the Glove app monitors usage over a three day period. The data is then compared against crowdsourced data that tawkon accesses regarding network quality for the big four carriers, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. Combining all this, the Glove app will provide a recommendation for which carrier would give you the best service based on where you typically use your smartphone. The app will even provide information about plans and they include a button so you can connect with a new carrier with a single tap.

The down side to the app is that coverage is currently limited to the San Francisco area, New York City, and Israel. They anticipate coverage will expand over time. The app is free and only requires Android 2.3 or higher. If you are ready to make a carrier switch or you are just curious about how your current carrier stacks up, you may want to check it out using one of the download links below.
