With the recent launch of Android Oreo, it’s been fun to watch usage of that version grow each month. Today we get to check in on Oreo’s usage again thanks to some new Android platform distribution stats from Google.
During the 7-day period ending on December 11th, Google says that 0.5 percent of Android devices that accessed the Play Store were running Oreo. That’s up slightly from last month when Oreo’s usage was 0.3 percent.
We’ve seen a few devices get updated to Oreo in recent weeks, like the OnePlus 3 and unlocked HTC U11, so that contributed to this growth. Google also likely sold some more Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones which also helped to grow Oreo’s usage.
The only other version of Android to grow this month is Nougat, which went from 20.6 percent usage in November to 23.3 percent usage in December.
Android Marshmallow dropped this month and finished at 29.7 percent usage, making it the most-used version of Android. Lollipop was close behind, though, with usage of 26.3 percent. Then there’s Android KitKat at 13.4 percent and Android Jelly Bean at 5.9 percent.
Rounding out this list is Android Ice Cream Sandwich that held steady at 0.5 percent usage and Android Gingerbread which slipped to 0.4 percent usage.
